FEBEX announces a price rise for its phosphorus derivatives.
BEX - Switzerland, 1st June 2008
Effective 20th May 2008, the People's Republic of China, home to 80 % of the world's Phosphorus production capacities, raised its export tax on Phosphorus from 20% to 120%. Consequently, FEBEX, a subsidiary of the CECA/ARKEMA GROUP, has no choice but to announce an increase in the price of its Phosphorus derivatives:
· high purity phosphoric acid
· SOFIBEX® sodium hypophosphite
effective 1st June 2008.
" This sixfold increase in the tax has a considerable effect on the cost of the Phosphorus purchased by FEBEX for its Swiss facility " states Thierry VASSALO, Managing Director of FEBEX S.A. " This forces us to adapt our sales prices for Phosphoric Acid and Sodium Hypophosphite in line with their Phosphorus content, effective 1st June 2008. "
