Paris, July 11, 2008
CECA, subsidiary of ARKEMA group, has announced today a new worldwide price increase for its molecular sieves sold under the brand name Siliporite® and the immediate implementation for 3 Angstroms products of a "Potassium Chloride surcharge".
" Despite our drastic efforts to cut costs, CECA takes these measures in order to avoid jeopardizing the customers development programs " confirms Pierre Verdier, Molecular sieves General Manager.
1. Effective today, prices will increase up to 15 % in an effort to offset the continuing escalation of raw materials (caustic soda and sodium silicate in particular) and Energy which is extensively used at the drying and activation steps at the plants.
2. The price of potassium chloride, a raw material used in the 3A molecular sieves production has triplicated since December 2007 and forces CECA to implement a KCl surcharge of 130 to 250 euros per ton depending on the product. This surcharge will be invoiced separately.
