Foam control.

Foaming in the oil and gas industry.

Foaming phenomena occur virtually at every stage in the oil and gas industry.

In most cases, these are troublesome phenomena that need eliminating, and, where possible, prevent altogether.

The main drawbacks of foaming are as follows:

  •  Need to shut down the plants.
  • Drop in production capacity.
  • Disruption of control equipment, hence the plants’ operation.
  • Deterioration of the crude oil produced,
  • Foaming mostly results from problems of turbulence in the circuits,
  • Presence of surfactants and solid particles dispersed to a greater or lesser degree in the effluents.

The solution : Prochinor® AM product range

The Prochinor® AM range consists of two product types:

 « water-soluble » products designed :

  • to fight against or prevent foaming in aqueous or in mixed media  (water–hydrocarbons).

  • These mainly involve dehydratation plants using glycol, and gas scrubbing plants using alcanolamines.

« oil-soluble » products designed to fight against or prevent foaming in hydrocarbon media, the most common example being in oil-gas separators.

CECA has developed original solutions to meet the various process requirements and constraints in deep water surface injection:

  • batch and/or continuous injection,
  • concentrated or diluted solution,
  • in aqueous medium and/or in solvent medium.

Generally speaking, these products can be injected in a continuous regime, or, if required, pure or diluted in a suitable solvent :

  •  water in cases where the recommended Prochinor® AM is an aqueous emulsion
  •  diesel oil in cases where the recommended Prochinor® AM is soluble in oil.
