Ethanol Drying Via Pressure Swing Adsorption




Ethyl alcohol produced either by synthesis or fermentation needs to be dried for downstream operation. Applications for dried ethanol include bio-fuels and ETBE, food and cosmetics.

 

Dry Ethanol :

dehydration of ethyl alcohol at azeotropic conditions (i.e 94-95%) using the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) process offers economical and environmental advantages compared to the traditional ternary distillation process and is progressively gaining ground.

 

CECA SILIPORITE® EPX 3B is a Molecular Sieve specifically developed for alcohol drying using the PSA process.

SILIPORITE® EPX 3B advantages include :


- high mechanical strength and attrition resistance,
- outstanding adsorption kinetics,
- negligible ethanol co-adsorption,
- minimized by-product formation.

 

SILIPORITE®  EXP is a Molecular Sieve specifically developed for:


- Very low impurity formation for ethanol used in pharmaceuticals or cosmetics,
- PSA Ethanol processes at high temperatures.
