Focus on diatomite :

 

Following treatment, diatomite forms a highly porous white or pink powder. Free of moisture as well as mineral and organic impurities, this minute lace-like mineral material is chemically inert, and features durable permeability, making it a remarkable additive when used in conjunction with a filter.

The outstanding porosity of diatomite resulting from its vegetable origin prior to fossilisation of the deposit, combined with a very low density make it a highly sought-after functional additive (paint, catalyst,  construction, refractory industry, etc.).

 

Focus on perlite :

 

Perlite is the filter aid for high solid concentrations (e.g. oil wax). Bearing in mind its low density, perlite is also used in delicate precoats. It offers a cost-effective alternative to diatomaceous earth in specific applications.

 

Because of its very low density and thermal conductivity, and its absorption and insulation capacities, granular perlite, also referred to as “mineral pop corn”, is also widely used in the construction sector (technical plaster board) and in cryogenic insulation.
